Silver watch in pair cases with champlevé dial

A very fine pair cased pocket watch made by John Newson in London, England, circa 1740. This numbered watch was crafted from silver. Its champlevé dial features Roman hours, half hour markers, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals and iron poker & beetle hands. The numbered movement is fitted with a very early English verge escapement and worm screw.
The case and movement have matching numbers, and the dial and movement are signed.
