An important and highly attractive English quarter-hour self-strike coach clock with Grande Sonnerie and triple case, made for the Ottoman market, circa 1800.
Extremely splendid fire-gilt verge movement, quarter-hour self-strike, completely signed and numbered, movement in fantastic condition. Very well preserved signed original enamel dial with Ottoman numerals and gold hands. Three silver cases, all cases pierced, outer case covered with ray skin, extraordinary ornamental nail decoration, richly engraved floral decorations, the middle case also florally decorated, and inner case with maker’s mark I.R as well as London Hallmarks from 1800, and bell (only the ray-skin covering is rubbed in the centre back).
