A large, heavy, rare pocket chronometer with spring detent escapement according to John Arnold, circa 1818. Silver case, smooth, tiered, case maker punch mark “TH” (Thomas Hardy). Dial is enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, numbered, signed, gold spade hands. Full plate movement, frosted, gilt, chain/ fusee, round pillars, keywind, signed, spring detent escapement according to John Arnold, chronometer balance according to Pennington with 10 screws, blued helical freesprung balance spring with both sides passing, chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
