Constant Girard (1825-1903) founder of Girard Perregaux was the technician behind the legendary gold triple bridge plate construction, which was made with tourbillon and/or precision lever escapements. He produced a handful of such pieces between 1865 and 1890. The present example with lever escapement is possibly among the earliest known.
