A rare English 18 Carat gold key wound pocket chronometer with detent escapement and power reserve indication, circa 1860. A heavy, polished case. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, sector below 12 o’clock for the power reserve. Blued steel spade hands. Frosted gilt movement, three quarter plate, 18 jewels, detent escapement, cut bi metallic compensation balance with gold compensation screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond end stone. Movement signed.
