A very fine French 18K gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1750. Engraved Louis XV case, the back centred by the painted enamel scene The Kitchen, the front bezel chased and engraved. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals, gold Louis XV hands. A hinged, gilt brass full plate movement, pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, steel three-arm balance with flat spring, continental cock pierced and engraved with scrolls, polished steel endplate, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate. Movement signed.
