A very fine French, 18K yellow gold, keyless pocket lever chronometer with Guillaume balance, circa 1910. Obtained First Class rating at Besançon Observatory timing contest. Bulletin 1st Classe Chronometer with 24-Hour Dial by L. Leroy & Cie, Horlogers de la Marine, 7 Bd. de la Madeleine, Paris, “Bulletin de 1ere Classe”.

A polished case, concealed hinge. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the chronometer trial details. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and inner 24-hour numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial. Gold spade hands. A matte gilt movement, stamped with the Besançon viper’s head mark, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, Anibal brass Guillaume balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case, cuvette and movement signed.
