A fine French 18 carat gold quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1850. This watch features a mechanical movement with manual winding, key winding, and cylinder escapement. It has a rare white enamelled guilloche dial with spiral decoration, dotted indexes, railway tracks, black Roman numerals, and golden Breguet style hands. The 18 carat pink gold case has a double bowl engraved with: Leroy et fils, horlogers du roi à Paris.

Le Roy et fils
Le Roy et fils was a French watchmaker. The company was founded in 1785 by Basile Charles le Roy. The company became successful and survived the turmoils of the French Revolution. It became the clockmaker to Napoleon I and was also purveyor to his sister, Princess Pauline. After the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy, it was a warrant holder for the Duke of Bourbon.
