Enamelled gold verge watch

An excellently preserved key wind pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, France, circa 1780. The case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat two colour gold and features a high quality Louis XV outer hinge, as well as fine enamel work on the back depicting the portrait of a lady with a hair ornament set with five small diamonds. The white enamel dial features Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and the original gold hands. The numbered movement is fitted with a verge escapement.
The movement is signed.
