An important gold and enamel watch with erotic scene and a matching gold Breguet type ratchet key, made by Allègre in Toulon, France, circa 1830. The numbered open faced fine quality case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and enamel and has an extremely rare enamel painting with an erotic scene on the back and a rocaille band. The gilt textured dial has Roman hour numerals and blued Breguet steel hands. The Breguet style movement has a ruby cylinder escapement, temperature compensation and an hours and quarters repeater. The cuvette is signed.
