Gold museum quality watch with chatelaine

An extremely rare, museum quality pocket watch with associated chatelaine made in Paris, France, circa 1850. The spherical open faced case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, has rock crystal on both sides and three polychrome enamelled charms hanging from the bottom, decorated to match the chatelaine. The white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals, red Arabic five minutes and gold hands. The key wound movement features a cylinder escapement.

The item presented here is accompanied by a unique chatelaine consisting of eight oval cartouches with a mother-of-pearl finish on the back, showing elaborate, high quality polychrome enamel miniature paintings depicting doves, musical instruments and flowers, all excellently preserved and not restored. A further original key is included, which is enamelled on both sides.
