Pocket watch with virgule escapement
–
An original lépine pocket watch with virgule escapement, made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1780. The open faced typical super flat Jean-Antoine Lépine case of this watch, which is crafted from 18 carat gold, has a very rare enamel à goutte design, a painting on the back, pearl setting and an opening button in the pendant. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals and the original gold hands. The typical movement has a virgule escapement invented by Jean-Antoine Lépine and key winding.
The dial and cuvette are signed.
