Gold and rock crystal chatelaine watch of museum quality

An extremely rare gold and rock crystal, museum quality pocket watch with chatelaine made by Philip Frères in Paris, France, circa 1850. The open faced spherical case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, has rock crystal on both sides. The white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals, red Arabic five minutes and gold hands. The key wound movement has a cylinder escapement.
The watch is accompanied by a unique chatelaine consisting of eight oval cartouches with a mother of pearl finish on the back, showing elaborate, high quality polychrome enamel miniature paintings depicting doves, musical instruments and flowers, all excellently preserved and not restored, the further original key is included, which is enamelled on both sides.
