Open faced pocket watch in gold and enamel

French gold and enamel open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch made by Charles Leroy or the (Basile) Charles Leroy factory, circa 1780. The watch features a mechanical key wind movement with a verge escapement, repeating the hours and quarter hours. Its white enamel dial has painted Breguet style hour numerals, outer minute markers, blued steel Breguet style hands and a winding square at two o’clock. The case is crafted from 18 carat yellow gold with braided, beaded and engraved details along the bezel. The back is finished in deep blue enamel.
