Gold pocket watch by Dupuy
–
A French 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch with monogram, circa  1900. This pocket watch is made from 18 carat gold. It features a white enamel dial with painted Roman numerals, a railroad minute track with Arabic five minute markers, inner red 24 hour numerals, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The back of the case has a monogrammed cartouche surrounded by foliage, underlined by a ribbon, set against a radiating guilloché pattern. The inner case is also crafted from 18 carat gold, signed Dupuy à Bordeaux. It is powered by a mechanical movement with an anchor escapement, a Breguet balance spring, a compensated bimetallic balance, and a straight line layout, with pendant winding. An example of early 20th century French craftsmanship, including the movement.
