Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced skeleton pocket watch with quarter repeating complication, early 20th century. This watch has a mechanical crown winding, fully skeletonized and engraved movement featuring a lever escapement and a quarter repeater mechanism striking with two hammers on gongs activated by pushing the pendant. It bears a French assay mark. The skeletonized dial shows elegant applied gold Roman numerals for the hours set on a gold matized annular outer ring track and gilded twisted hands. The timepiece is housed in a substantial, heavy round 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a fluted frame and caseband. It has a transparent crystal protective front cover, a transparent crystal reverse back cover, and an inner cuvette exposing the intricate mechanism from both sides. The watch also features a fluted winding crown and a sturdy round suspension bow.
