Gold open faced chronometer watch

A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced chronometer pocket watch, dating from the early 20th century. This watch features a manual wind mechanical movement with lever escapement. The white enamel dial features bold black Arabic numerals for the hours, an inner 24 hour track, a railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and steel hands. The dial is signed Chronomètre in script. The round 18 carat yellow gold case is marked with the French eagle’s head hallmark (tête d’aigle) for 18K gold and has a double gold back (cuvette) also in 18 carat gold. The case is finished with a fluted crown and an oval bow.
