A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Le Roy & Fils in Paris, circa 1850. It has a hand wound mechanical movement signed Le Roy & Fils Horlogers de la Marine Palais Royal 13 & 15 Galerie de Montpensier Paris. The white enameled dial features elongated black painted Roman numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track with Arabic five minute indicators from 5 to 60, and elegant gold spade style hands. The timepiece is housed in a substantial round three body 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The reverse back cover has a finely engine turned background engraved with a prominent stylized OL monogram centerpiece. It is paired with a delicately fluted caseband, a fluted winding crown, a small hand setting pusher near the bezel, and a sturdy round gilt metal suspension bow.
