Gold open faced keyless cylinder watch with vest chain
–
A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with vest chain, made by Leroux in Mans, late 19th century. It has a mechanical crown winding gilded bar movement with a cylinder escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and ornate gold Louis XV style hands. A pinset hand adjuster is located on the caseband next to the crown.
–
The timepiece is housed in a round, 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The satin finished reverse back cover is intricately engraved with interlocking monogram initials. It has a fluted winding crown, an oval suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette signed Leroux au Mans. The watch comes with a matching 18 carat yellow gold link vest chain with a large bolt ring clasp and swivel hook, and a fitted presentation box.
