Gold open faced lever watch

A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Junius Gondy in Pontarlier, dating from circa 1890. This watch has a high grade mechanical movement with screwed in chaton bridges, lever escapement, and a Breguet balance spring. The white enamel dial displays black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt Louis XV style hands. The round gold case features a matching gold inner cuvette and is numbered. The watch is equipped with a pendant winding mechanism and a push button for time setting located at the 11 o’clock position.
