A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. This watch has a hand wound mechanical movement with a standard lever escapement, featuring a gold inner back cuvette. The white enamel dial displays painted black Roman numerals for the primary hours, an inner ring with red Arabic numerals for the 24 hour scale (13–24), a railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and ornate gold spade hands. The watch features a round, solid gold open faced case on a hinge with a fluted crown, a decorative round bow, a matching solid gold inner back cuvette with a perlage finish on the inside, and a case back beautifully decorated with a vertical engine turned guilloché pattern and a vacant cartouche.
