Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by LIP, early 20th century. This watch has a mechanical manual wind pendant movement with a lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, and Breguet balance spring. The white enamel dial shows painted black Arabic numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, a subsidiary small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and steel spade hands. The dial bears a crisp LIP signature beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The timepiece is housed in a three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold open face case with a polished bezel, fluted winding crown, and sturdy round suspension bow. The inner gold cuvette is crafted from solid 18 carat yellow gold. The solid yellow gold back cover is finely decorated with a vertical guilloché grooved pattern, centring an unengraved oval shaped cartouche.
