Gold open faced pocket lever watch

A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with guilloché and engraving made by Ratel in Paris, circa late 19th to early 20th century. It has a hand wound mechanical movement. The white enamel dial features Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and spade hands. The caseback is chased and engraved with the initials ML on a guilloché background. The double gold case is engraved with RATEL, Rue Mr Le Prince 53, Paris and numbered. It comes with a yellow gold chain featuring an eagle head and rhinoceros hallmarks.
