A rare gold enamel open faced gentleman’s pocket watch with cylinder escapement, circa 1785.
A 22 Carat gold case, border on front and back side set with half pearls, the back cover engine-turned and translucid enamelled with light green and golden pattern against a cobalt blue enamelled background, case maker’s punch mark JD, and glazed movement. Enamel dial with radial Roman numerals and blued spade hands. Bridge movement, cal. Lepine, keywind, frosted, gilt, with ruby cylinder, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the index, and shock protection parachute.
