A fine and unusual French, 18k gold and enamel, pearl-set, pair-cased pendant watch, circa 1785. Protective outer case, glazed gilt brass. Louis XVI inner case, the back with translucent imperial blue enamel with white vermicelli over engine-turning, pearl-set bezels.

White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 2. Gold beetle and poker hands. Hinged, frosted gilt full-plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental type balance cock. Movement signed, case punched with French guarantee marks.
