A French fine gold enamel verge pocket watch, circa 1785. The watch features an 18-carat gold case with a costly engine-turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled back lid. There is a translucid enamelled multi-coloured flower in the centre, and the white enamelled bezels have fine green and golden leaf tendrils. Additionally, the engine-turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled band has a waved pattern and a pendant with enamel decor. The enamel dial is signed and has radial Arabic numerals with Fleur de Lys gold hands. The fire gilt full plate movement is also signed and has chain/fusee, rounded movement pillars, keywind, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring, and engraved and pierced balance bridge.
