An early, French silver Baroque quarter repeating oignon verge pocket watch, circa 1700.
Openwork silver case, decorated with birds of paradise, dolphins and foliage. Full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, one hammer/one bell, three-arm steel balance and verge escapement. Very fine white enamel, en bosse, dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic five-minute track.

Guillaume Vitrolles, Parisian watchmaker, France
Guillaume Vitrolles (Vitrolle) was born in 1673 in Paris, parish of Saint-Paul. He was married to Geneviève Voisin and was possibly the father or brother of Antoine Vitrolles. Guillaume Vitrolles was listed as a master watchmaker on the Grande Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine. You can find him listed in the archives on May 2nd, 1706 when he signed an apprenticeship contract. Antoine Vitrolles was a master watchmaker in Paris on the rue de Saint-Antoine and was mentioned on November 22nd, 1719.
Guillaume Vitrolles died in Rue Culture Sainte Catherine (Rue de la Couture Sainte-Catherine) on February 2, 1754, at the age of 81. Rue Culture Sainte Catherine is now Rue de Sévigné.
