Metal single-hand clock by Abraham Yver
–
A French gilt metal single-hand clock with a half-hourly/hourly strike, circa 1650. This vintage pocket watch boasts a full plate movement with a classic verge escapement. The elegant enamel dial features Roman radial hours, a quarter track, half-hour markers, and a single steel hand. And the metal watch case is meticulously engraved. Abraham Yver was a renowned watchmaker in the 17th century, credited with the invention of the watch. He was born in 1620 and lived until 1680, based in Aangoulesme. The watch bears his signature on the movement.
