Frédéric Boucheron. When Frédéric Boucheron opened his jewellery store on Place Vendôme, Paris in 1858, which still exists at this address, he was the first jeweller in this district. He quickly became famous for his excellent knowledge of gemstones and his exquisite creations. The Maison Boucheron served an extremely wealthy clientele and its success soon allowed branches to be opened in Japan and the Middle and Far East, as well as in Moscow and London. They exhibited at numerous international exhibitions, for example at the Centennial International Exhibition, Philadelphia in 1876, the two world exhibitions of 1889 and 1900 in Paris, the World Exhibition of 1893 in Chicago and the World Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Industrial Design, Paris in 1925. The management of the company is still in the hands of the Boucheron family today.
