A decorative French 22 carat pink gold open faced pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1780. The case of this timepiece boasts a back cover adorned with four colour gold chased decoration in high relief. The design portrays a dog and birds at the altar of love, surrounded by garlands of flowers and a quiver with arrows in the foreground. It is fitted with a large lateral hinge. The white enamel dial features Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and Louis XVI hands. The movement has a full plate, is key wind, fire gilded and signed. It has a chain and fusee, solid movement pillars, a three arm brass balance, and an engraved and florally pierced balance bridge.
