Gold open faced pocket watch

A French decorative open faced pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris circa 1780. This timepiece boasts a 22 carat pink gold case, the back cover adorned with chased four colour gold decoration in high relief. The design portrays a dog and birds at the altar of love, surrounded by garlands of flowers, and a quiver with arrows in the foreground. It is further fitted with a large lateral hinge. A white enamel dial featuring Roman hours, outer minute divisions, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and Louis XVI hands is utilized in this watch. The fire gilded key wind full plate verge movement is signed. It has a chain and fusee, solid movement pillars, a three arm brass balance, and an engraved and florally pierced balance bridge.
