Gilt metal oignon verge by Gaudron

A fine French verge pocket watch “oignon” with central winding, from the watchmaker to the King of France and to the Duc d’Orleans, circa 1695.
Firegilt, finely chased and engraved case with foliate and ribbon decoration, figures to the centre and large lateral hinge. Gilt ornamented dial with enamel cartouches, radial Roman numerals, enamel centre and blued single steel hand. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, three-arm brass balance, fine engraved and pierced silver balance cock with a scene of two dogs barking at two swans.
