Platinum Belle Epoque watch and chain

Extremely fine and elegant 18K gold and enamel, platinum and rose-cut diamond-set keyless lady’s pendant watch, circa 1908. Accompanied by a platinum, diamond-set gold and enamel matching chain. The bezel is overlaid with slate-grey enamel, the back cover is overlaid with slate-grey guilloché enamel with raised painted white enamel flower border, the centre with applied platinum and rose diamond-set mount, and the whole is mounted within a pierced platinum and rose diamond-set ribbon framework with a pear-shaped diamond suspended from the lower mount, cabochon sapphire set winding crown. A chain composed of elongated links decorated with slate-grey enamel, platinum and rose diamond set ribbon terminal. Matte engine-turned silver dial with painted dauphine numerals, outer minute track and black Breguet hands. Matte gilt movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed.

M.A. Plojoux was established 30, Rue du Rhône in Geneva. A high-precision watchmaker who specialized in complicated watches and jewellery, he received two awards at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878, won a gold medal in 1880, and took part in the Geneva National Exhibition in 1896.
