It is signed Gustave Sandoz Horloger de la Marine Palais Royal 147 Paris. The white enamel dial features classic black Roman numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and sleek gilt steel hands. The timepiece is housed in a substantial round triple body 18 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case. The spring hinged front cover is personalized with a large, intricately engraved interlaced custom monogram that opens to reveal the dial. The matching reverse back cover opens to a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette that is elaborately signed and numbered. This further opens to showcase the beautiful gilt brass gear train and frosted movement bars underneath.

Gustave Sandoz was a celebrated French watchmaker appointed as the official Horloger de la Marine (Marine Watchmaker), operating from his prestigious boutique at Palais Royal 147 in Paris during the late 19th century. This luxurious timepiece exemplifies the supreme mechanical refinement of French and Swiss collaborative haute horlogerie. It integrates a highly sophisticated quarter repeating complication that audibly strikes the time on internal gongs. The exceptional triple case construction underscores its pedigree by using multiple solid gold hinged layers to protect the masterfully adjusted striking movement from environmental elements.
