A French 18 carat gold quarter repeating jump hour cylinder watch, circa 1830. The watch features a gilded movement with a cylinder escapement, a plain three arm balance, a hanging barrel, and two polished steel hammers striking coiled gongs. It showcases a silver engine turned dial with a satin finished chapter ring displaying Arabic numerals for the minutes, an aperture for the hours, and subsidiary seconds. The gold case, adorned with an engine turned back, with band, and bezel, includes a pendant locking slide to the band, a gold cuvette signed Ceston, à Cordes, featuring apertures for winding and hand set, and engraved with movement details. The case back is numbered and stamped A&F, with the cuvette and back additionally stamped. This watch comes with two keys.

The movement is not running, fully wound, and the balance is sticky. The hours are jumping correctly as the minute hand is taken past the hour. The operation is repetitive. There is tarnishing and light scuffs on the movement. The dial is tarnished throughout and shows light scuffs and scratches. The case exhibits wear at the edges of the engine turning on the case back. The engine turning on the bezel is very worn. The bezel and back have some light indentations.
