Gold and enamel pocket watch by Brequet

A fine, quarter repeating, gold and painted on enamel pocket watch, circa 1795. A pierced and twist-engraved band, the back with a finely painted on enamel scene of two handmaidens with an ewer in a landscape standing and kneeling before an altar decorated with gold paillons, opalescent ground over engine-turning, gold paillon and arrow border, the bezel decorated with blue and white enamel stripes and paillons.

White enamel dial, outer minute track, Arabic quarter-hour numerals. Gold leaf hands.
A frosted gilt movement, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental balance cock with steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
