Gold, enamel, and diamond set repeating watch by Roux, Roman, Bordier & Cie.
–
A Swiss gold, enamel, and diamond set quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1795. This watch has a gilded full plate movement, signed Roux Bordier & Cie, featuring a verge escapement with a pierced and engraved balance bridge and a gilded regulation plate. The piece is numbered 18225 and has a bell scratch that is signed and numbered Chinevure[?] 433.  The white enamel dial, signed Roux Bordier & Cie, displays black Arabic numerals and an outer Arabic minute ring. It is completed with diamond set decorative hands and a winding aperture at 2 o’clock. The gold case showcases translucent blue guilloché enamel. At its centre is a lozenge shaped panel bordered by opaque white enamel and adorned with a bouquet of flowers crafted from translucent enamel over an engraved background. The border consists of diamond set flowers and painted enamel garlands. Both bezels feature opaque white enamel stylised palm fronds interspersed with diamonds. The decorative enamel band completes the design, and the case is numbered beneath the bell as 18225.

The dial is in good condition, showing no visible cracks or damage. The movement is functioning; however, while the watch is repeating, the sound is somewhat tinny and does not strike the bell cleanly. The case has minor losses on two small cartouches at the hinge. Additionally, some areas of green enamel are missing from the leaves on the case back. Although the back is made of hard enamel, the inconsistent coverage of the green enamel may suggest that it has been restored.
