An ultra-thin Swiss gentleman’s Geneva pocket watch with cylinder escapement, circa 1795.
18 Carat gold, polished case with case maker’s punch mark LT.  Signed enamel with Roman numerals and blued Breguet hands. Signed, keywind, gilt full plate movement with chain/fusee, three-arm steel balance, and pierced balance bridge.

Alexander Patry became a master watchmaker in Geneva around 1780. There is no explanation for why he was called “oncle”, which translates as “uncle”. Patry closely worked with watchmaker Chaudoir from 1791 until 1796; after 1798 he worked with Chenevierce for some years. This watch presumably dates from that time.
