A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with independent deadbeat seconds made by Viel Robin, Horloger du Jardin du Roi in Paris, early 19th century. This watch features a key wound mechanical movement with double barrel, one for the mainspring and the other for the independent deadbeat seconds, a three arm spiral balance with lateral lever escapement, and an advance/delay adjustment racket, signed Viel Robin on the bridge. The white enamel dial displays Breguet style Arabic numerals and hands, a centre deadbeat seconds hand with a safety catch on the case middle, a circular grained minute track, and a small seconds hand.
