A French important silver form pendant watch, in excellent condition, made by Zacharie Fonnerau a La Rochelle, master from 1650.
Silver case with splendid floral decoration, hinged and lids also with floral decoration. Early French verge movement, gut string, still without hairspring, typical regulating device with worm gear, iron balance, main plate signed. Silver dial with engraved figurative scene, Roman hours and blued iron hand.

Comparable watches are shown in Clutton/Daniels “Watches” fig. 149-169. Zacharie Fonnerau a La Rochelle was a major Geneva-based watchmaker and master in La Rochelle from 1641-1683. He is known for his important form watches from the 17th century, amongst others in tulip shape.
