A fine French Louis XIV gilt brass Oignon watch, circa 1710. Gilt full plate movement, divided Egyptian pillars, going barrel, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, short spring, pierced and chased foliate balance cock, Arabic regulation scale with blued steel pointer. Case bezel and back chased and engraved with scrolls and strapwork, square hinge, loose ring pendant.
Dial with black radial Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches set on a gilt brass chased plate, inner enamel half-hour ring, outer Arabic five minute numerals on white enamel cartouches. Blued steel “tulip” hands. Movement signed.
