–
A French open faced pocket watch beautifully decorated in three shades of gold, circa 1795. This watch features a signed movement with a verge escapement and a spiral balance, mounted under a brass, openworked, and chased cock. The large white enamel signed dial has Arabic numerals for the hours, outer minutes dots with Arabic fifteen minutes numerals, a winding square at 2 o’clock, and gold hands. The case is adorned with a column featuring a pair of doves surrounded by foliage and friezes decorated with scrolls and pearls on an amati background, encircled by a band of interlacing. The rest of the bottom of the case is decorated with scrolls on a grooved background, topped with a crown of leaves and floral motifs. The middle section is decorated with a frieze of laurels. All motifs are in green, pink, yellow gold, and silver.
