A rare gold enamel open faced pocket watch with cylinder escapement, circa 1785.
A 22 carat gold case, border on front and back side set with half pearls, the back cover engine turned and translucid enamelled with a light green and golden pattern against a cobalt blue enamelled background, case maker’s punch mark “JD”, glazed movement.
Enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, blued spade hands, bridge movement, cal. “Lepine”, keywind, frosted, gilt, ruby cylinder, three arm brass balance, blued balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the index, shock protection “parachute”.
