A rare Montre a Tact in the manner of Breguet, made by Bourdin in Paris, France, circa 1850. The full hunter case of this watch was crafted from 18 Carat gold and is engine turned on the back lid and has a band with pins for the a tact, a tact hand on the back lid and a spring lid. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock and blued steel hands. The movement has a thin lever escapement, wolf’s toothing, a very unusual balanced lever and a central wheel for the a tact hand.

These “Montre a Tact” in manner of Breguet’s invention are exceptionally rare, only one other example by Bourdin with the number 9074 is known.
