Silver pierced and engraved alarm watch by Abraham Cusin
–
A French silver pierced and engraved pocket watch with hour self-strike and alarm, circa 1660-1670. This watch features a full plate movement with a verge escapement. The dial, made of gilt-brass and engraved, showcases a painted enamel chapter ring. The chapter ring includes Roman radial hours, half-hour markers, and inner Arabic numerals for the alarm and is operated by a single hand. The silver case is exquisitely adorned with intricate filigree engravings and pierced designs, depicting flowers, tendrils, and a detailed foliate pattern on the back. To protect the dial, there is a hinged glass cover that can be opened or closed.
