Weckerlin
Elias Weckerlin or Weckherlin, 1646-1689, was a prominent and important master watchmaker during the second half of the 17th century. He was active in Augsburg from approximately 1660 to 1689, a German city known for its rich history in craftsmanship, particularly in the production of precision instruments and luxury items during that era.
–
Weckerlin was one of the most significant watchmakers in Augsburg during his time, known for the high quality, and detailed and ornate decoration of his timepieces reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of the late 17th century. He further made clocks and watches for noble houses, indicating his elite clientele. His work is highly regarded and examples of his craftsmanship are now in major museums such as the Louvre in Paris and the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden.
