Gold full hunter watch likely made for Tiffany by a Glashütte maker
–
A probably German gold hunting cased keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1870. Retailed by Tiffany & Co., New York. The watch features a frosted gilded 2/3 plate Glashütte calibre movement with gold lever and escape wheel, and jewels set in goldscrewed chatons. It has a bimetallic compensation balance, diamond endstone, and is signed Tiffany & Co., Union Square. The white enamel dial, signed Tiffany & Co., New York, displays Roman numerals, a recessed subsidiary seconds hand, an outer minute ring, and blued steel hands. The case is polished 18 carat gold, with each side engraved with monograms and bordered by geometric decoration. The setting lever is beneath the bezel, and the plain polished gold cuvette, covers, and cuvette are all signed Tiffany & Co. and numbered.

The movement is running smoothly and the hands are correctly set. The gilding exhibits a somewhat pale appearance, is slightly dirty, and has a few small scuffs. A large chip is between the centre of the dial and the subsidiary seconds. A small chip is present at the centre of the subsidiary seconds. There is a scratch next to 12 o’clock. The case shows signs of light polishing, with small scuffs throughout and a small nick on the edge of the cover near 2 o’clock.
