Unsigned gilt-brass drum-shaped watch
–
A small German one-handed renaissance drum-shaped timepiece, circa 1550. This timepiece features a gilt-brass drum-shaped case, adorned with medallion portraits connected by floral and leaf designs, and an unclear maker’s mark. The dial displays Roman numerals from I to XII, an inner twenty-four-hour ring, twelve tactile knob markers for nighttime reading, a central wind rose and sunray motif, and a single iron hand. The incomplete iron movement includes a fusee and hogs bristle regulation but lacks pallets and a foliot.

The dial has a section of the rim missing between XII and II, and the hand has been replaced. The case is in generally good condition with some old minor dents and marks commensurate with its age. There is no winder. The movement lacks pallets and foliot, and the spring barrel has been replaced, but otherwise, it appears to be complete with some old repairs.
