Unusual gold Patek Philippe with enamel portrait
–
A small Swiss lever by Patek Philippe in an unusual gold open faced case with enamel portrait on the cuvette, circa 1883. Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel, steel Wolf’s teeth winding work. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, the lever with counterbalance extension arms extended beyond the pallets. Escape pivots with end stones in a polished steel setting. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman and Arabic numerals and gilt hands. The small engine turned 18 Carat open faced case with ribbed middle, the back with a monogram and engraved inside with the date 30 De Novembro 1883. A photographic technique produced the gold cuvette with an enamel portrait of a gentleman. Maker’s mark PP.Co in a rectangle and number corresponding to that on the movement.
