Gold quarter repeating lever watch
–
An historically interesting, heavy gold hunting cased watch with Grande & Petit Sonnerie and repeater, attributed to Henri Grandjean & Cie. (Le Locle), caliber Audemars, former property of Earl of Platen-Hallermund, circa 1875. An 18K gold, hunting cased watch-à-goutte, very high quality, dome with extra ordinary engraving, motives of the hunt, precision lever movement in top quality with tandem winding, Grande Sonnerie or Petit Sonnerie and quarter hour repeater, extremely fine quality, probably Louis Audemars caliber.

Original enamel dial, backside numbered 17880 and signed Emile Gabus (craquelling between the subsidiary seconds and the rim), pink-gold hands, case band with 2 levers for the selection between Grande Sonnerie or Petit Sonnerie, possibility of switching off the repeater, movement intact, repeater intact, striking train complete, has to be overhauled. Inscribed serial number 17880 on the main plate, as well another inscribed number 13806 (probably serial number of Henri Grandjean & Cie.).

There is another comparable watch known with this special striking mechanism, signed Henri Grandjean & Cie.. The watch comes from the property of the German Earl of Platen-Hallermund (1875-1944) and has been in the ownership of the donee for decades and has not been used since then. Therefore an overhaul/revision is urgently necessary!
